Well not really stars, but I'm quite proud of myself. I went to a big networking event at work today and the new head of the UK AMS Group (the part of IBM I work for) was there. I actually had the balls to go up, introduce myself, and offer a couple of my suggestions for improving the professions process. Now a lot of people reading will think 'so what?'. Well even a year ago I probably wouldn't have even gone to an event that was purely about networking - it's my idea of hell - so this was a big step for me and my confidence. I was shaking inside the whole time but as usual I covered it perfectly - I do always come across as unflappable even when I'm bricking it like I was today.
In other news, I'm getting a little concerned about my challenge. My knees are really starting to give me grief now - the inner ligament is feeling really weak all the time, and when I run it's taking me longer and longer to get them warmed up and into the run. Today even at the end of the run they were still a bit sore. If they don't get worse then I'll keep going, but if they get any worse I think I'm going to have to stop and do some other type of exercise for a while until I heal up. The good part is that I did manage to get my 2 runs in on Tuesday, and a run in both yesterday and today, so I'm all caught up on missing the run last week. I was even smiling as I ran (despite the knee pain) today - could I actually be starting to enjoy it...?!
Weigh in day tomorrow. I have a feeling I'll have had another average week, despite really going for it this week. I just have to keep faith that at some point it'll pay off and I'll get a big loss one of the weeks...
