Weigh In - Week 5

Right - confession time.

I'm pretty useless at sticking to things. In fact that's not quite true - I'm very good at sticking to things *very rigidly* in an OCD, Anal, completionist, obsessive kind of way for relatively short periods of time. As such I managed to go running every day for nigh on 3 weeks and the only thing that stopped that was my knees giving me trouble.

However because I did have to stop my original plan I ended up giving up on it. That's what I do - I make things too hard for myself and then quit when the going gets too much for me. That or I do things perfectly for as long as possible and then quickly 'bodge it' at the end because I got bored, mostly because I was trying to do everything perfectly.

Either way I haven't been back to the gym for 14 days now. Partly because I hurt my knees and partly because I found a new obsession - computer games. It's not really a new obsession, but when I it comes to computer games I tend to either play to death all hours I can until I get bored and finish it off quickly (see previous paragraph) or I don't play at all - there no real middle ground unfortunately. This time around it was Fallout 3, and I've logged over 100 hours of game time in less than 2 weeks. That's a lot. But I've almost finished it now and am in the 'let's get it done so I can quit now' phase. I will finish it, but that will happen this week in the evenings and then I can say goodbye to it.

Anyway - having said all that, it is only the gym bit of the plan that's gone out of the window lately. I'm sticking to the rules around what I eat, and haven't cheated once. I did go out for a curry last week, but that was with a friend so is allowed under the rules - I'm not going to deprive myself of eating socially (I was quite careful with it though - no starters and shared rice/bread).

In the end this last week wasn't as successful as it could have been. I weighed in at 19st 11.5lbs, which is a loss this week of only 1.25lbs. That's not good enough, but I have to tell myself that it is better than going up again.

I'm committed this week to getting back into the gym in the mornings. Even if it's not to run (though I'll try out the knees to see how they feel tomorrow).

Pictures by the way - I'm still taking them each week. I can't see any difference at all so far, but the weight difference is only a few pounds between the first ones and the last ones. I'm hoping the difference will be more obvious as time goes on (after all that's the point isn't it!).
