Get your motor running

Came down to work on the bike this week. Not even sure why really. I rode it to work in Leeds and packed all my stuff on it with the intention of going straight down south from there, but then realised I'd forgotten my iPod so I ended up going home again first. Could have swapped into the car pretty easily but didn't. The journey wasn't easy - legs were almost completely numb by the time I got down and pressure sores in unmentionable places were not easy to deal with. I think I'll be buying one of those Air Hawk seats from the shop at the end of the road this week - that should help a lot I'm hoping especially when we go on tour...

I also saw the Olympic torch briefly on the way to Leeds as it came to the motorway bridge at Castleford. They lit some sort of miner's lamp from it I think - I was a bit far away to see really. At least I can say I saw it which I'm glad about really - would have been a shame not to when it came within a 1/4 mile of my house!

I had the vague idea of going for a ride out with Stuart one evening while I'm down but I got a text from him last night saying he was in the South of France on Italy this week on holiday, so that won't be happening. Will still probably go out on a ride somewhere, though I'm not sure where's any good down here to be honest.

I managed to drag my backside out of bed and to the gym before work again this morning despite being broken from the ride down. Felt pretty good as well really, to the point that I was thinking 'I should push myself harder than this' towards the end of it. I'm not going to though - I have to make this a marathon not a sprint. One thing I was reminded of though is why I don't do exercise at lunchtime or in the morning before work. I sweat like crazy for about an hour after, and that's not a good look in the ofice. I need to get up earlier and have a good old sit down for 20 minutes after the run to cool myself off before getting dressed I think...
