A lot of these posts are likely to be short and involve pictures and stats of my weight loss journey, though I'll throw in the odd life post here and there if anything interesting actually ever happens to me. I doubt it will but hey ho we'll see I guess.
I'm currently around the 21st mark, (just less than 300lbs). By the Old Boys reunion next year I've set myself a target of being an absolute maximum of 15st (210lbs). If I can do better than that then I will, but I've never been less than 15st in my adult (or teenage) life so less than that will be seriously new territory.
I started living by a couple of rules at the start of last year to get the ball rolling. When Hannah left it kind of went out the window, but here's the rules so I can start over:
- No Crisps. Ever. For any reason.
- No eating takeaway meals alone.
- No Sweets, chocolate, or Nuts. Ever. For any reason.
- Eat both breakfast and lunch every day
Pretty simple really. 1 and 2 are my main problems. Crisps because I'm an addict, and takeaways because I'm lazy and can't be bothered to cook properly for 1 person a lot of the time.
To give the excercise things a kickstart I've signed up to do a 'Major Series' run. Basically a 10-12k run with army obstacles every Kilometre. I wouldn't be able to do it in my current state but it's in October giving me plenty of training time. My first (and very intense) training schedule for the next 6 weeks or so before I go on holiday is a simple one:
- Run every day for at least 20 minutes, increasing speed and/or distance every day.
I have a detailed plan for how this works, but that's the basic gist and I don't want to bore you with it. I've done a 'run every day for a month' challenge twice before and managed it, so this should be both possible and will give my training a good start. Once I get back from holiday I can revisit and see about building up to 10k runs several times a week along with more weightlifting etc.
So I'm clear, this losing weight is pretty much going to be my life focus for the rest of this year. Other things will get neglected I guarantee it - career, personal life, sex life (yeah right), you name it - but if I don't do this now, it'll be too late and heart attacks are just around the corner. Weigh in day for me is Friday morning.
